The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy prioritises investment in agile, flexible and scalable manufacture that fulfils clean and green objectives.
The North East Covid-19 Response Group is working towards a recovery plan which delivers a greener and more resilient regional economy.
There is an opportunity to work towards a ten-year growth strategy for the sector aligned to the UK Government’s manufacturing strategy and the North East Strategic Economic Plan. This work will take account of the changing environment outlined here.
These priorities will develop and evolve over time driven by the priorities of our partners.
Key action areas are expected to be:
- refreshing the information gathered in the 2018 report and communicating about the sector to a range of audiences
- ensuring the long-term supply of skills for the future
- developing the North East and international supply chain
- increasing logistics connectivity and to support strengthened exports
- fostering innovation
- developing an enhanced communication strategy
